Orphans, Beaches and a New Home for Bar Girls

Photo by Megan MeineckeIf you’ve been following the trip updates from our Thailand team you know that lives are being changed, and that one by one girls are leaving the bars and stepping into a new life. Here is the latest update:

“Today we went over to Father Ray’s Children Orphanage which takes in the unwanted babies of Pattaya. Hearts were melting as we got to hold these beautiful babies. Our time at the orphanage was a time of joy yet sadness as many of these babies were completely abandoned. But it was so good to see them being cared for and truly being loved.

After that we went to a beach where many of the homeless reside. The city of Pattaya dislikes having them live on the beach and will often perform raids against them, driving them off. As a team we split off and walked around the beach meeting many people. It was a heartbreaking time.

The highlight of the day was that several of us got to go deliver donated sheets and bedding from back home to the safe houses BECAUSE we now have 3 girls who have taken the step to live there!!!

One girl is Lui,* who came to the business training and is now incredibly influential with the rest of the girls. She has been living there for a few days now with the house mom. And Photo by Megan Meinecketoday we brought the other 2 girls to officially move in. The girls were so excited!!! Dea, 19, was so proud of her new room and had so much fun picking out which bunk bed she was going to sleep in. The other girl was Mut* who was beaten by her husband.

It was so beautiful to see how excited they were to have a place to live in that was safe and peaceful and where no one could exploit or harm them… A place where they can be hugged and loved as they begin the healing process.”
